My Prophetic Experience
Hearing God by Shirleen Mitchell
I am so excited about what God is doing in my life that I have to share it with you! I've been saved for over twenty years and just within the last two years began to truly know God's purpose for my life. Jeremiah 29:11-13 It was an eye opening, spirit awakening experience. I remember when I first gave my life to the Lord, I would often hear a voice speaking to me about people and situations, I'd thought that it was just my subconscious opinion. But now I know that it is and was God speaking to me! I'm aware what purpose God has for my life and am no longer just an oblivious pew member lacking goals, direction or vision to be fulfilled. I must repeat this point I pray that you see that I say I am no longer just an oblivious pew member lacking goals, direction or vision to be fulfilled. I've found my true calling which is in accordance with the aspirations of my church/pastor and not taken on a title for the sake of association that I will not earnestly fulfill with God's help and guidance.
My husband, who is also my pastor went to a seminar in Illinois for Ministering Spiritual Gifts and while away, he called me energized sharing his experience of being challenged to hear God's voice. He now instructs others on how to hear God's voice at our church. At the first seminar which I attended I was so amazed on the way that God actually used me to bless others with words that actually ministered to them. As I experienced God using me to speak a word to others, I began to hear Him speak to me about what He desired from me. Then I was prophesied to by other participants in the seminar and He confirmed it. I truly walked away in awe and couldn't sleep that night anticipating God using me on the next day of the seminar. I felt God's anointing in a breathtaking and humbling manner and was pulled and stretched beyond my imagination. I've attended a total of four seminars and each one has blessed me to grow and know God even more!
I know that some of you may say that you are not called to be a prophet or prophetess but the everyone can exercise the gift prophecy. I Cor.12: 7-11 Whatever your ministry calling may be if you are aware of it; pastor, elder, minister, deacon, evangelism, missions, intercessor, healing, deliverance, teacher, usher, greeter, hospitality, youth ministry, worship leader, music ministry, drama ministry etc… you need to be able to hear, recognize and know God's voice to speak a word of edification, exhortation and blessing to someone.
I don't have to wait until I'm in my prayer closet to communicate with God, I listen and request His guidance in my daily walk; grocery shopping, parenting, preparing meals, driving, dealing with family, neighbors and whomever I meet. I now pray, sing, teach and worship prophetically, and am looking forward to God using me even more as He desires. I used the demonstration of having your favorite cereal but no milk to eat it with, it's like you need the milk to truly enjoy the real flavor and substance of the cereal and it's the same as implementing your calling with hearing, recognizing and knowing God's voice, you don't know the depths of the blessings in store for you and others until you encounter them together.
I have an insatiable desire to hear from God and be in His presence at all times. My faith is growing stronger because I have to reach out in faith for God to use me. I have to make Shirleen as small as possible and dismiss all of my reasoning, fear and doubt so that GOD can use me and that takes a lot of faith. Realizing that I have a purpose in God's Kingdom and that I am a member of the body of Christ has made so much more of a difference to me. I Cor.12:12,27 We all have purpose and a ministry, as my pastor often says none of us are a mistake, God purposed us when we were in our mother's womb. Jeremiah 1:5 I`m compelled to share this with you because I believe that God wants you to Hear His Voice. I challenge you to find a church that instructs Ministering of Spiritual Gifts Course or come to participate in our next seminar and see the most blessed, incomparable life altering experience for yourself.
